Born in Australia, makeup artist Christabel Draffin originally graduated with an Arts degree in English and History from the University of Sydney. Fashion and beauty had always been a passion so whilst at University she completed a makeup course and began assisting some of Australia’s top makeup artists.
After working in the US she moved to Paris where she began assisting Inge Grognard at Jed Root, and eventually moved to London where she began working on shoots and shows with such world-renowned makeup artists as Alex Box, Sam Bryant, and Florrie White. In 2008 international celebrity makeup artist Kay Montano offered her the role of First Assistant. This gave her the opportunity to work on set on a daily basis for such fashion luminaries as Karl Lagerfeld, Tim Walker, Bruce Weber, Miles Aldridge, Alasdair McLellan and Ellen von Unwerth.
Her work can be seen on the pages of British and Italian Vogue, Dazed and Confused, Grazia, Harper’s Bazaar (US), Pop, Marie Claire, Another Magazine and Vanity Fair.
Now relocated back to her native Sydney she continues her freelance makeup work as well as beauty writing for various publications. She has a well-respected beauty blog, The Makeup Mole and has recently been appointed at natural skincare company EVOHE as Creative Director.
